
The Clovis High School Wildcat Band is directed by Mr. Bill Allred, Mr. Keith Sacane, Mr. Brandon Boerio, and Mr. Karl Powel. The Ninth Grade Center Band is directed by Mr. Brian Wargel.
Mr. Bill Allred is a graduate of the University of Tennessee with a Bachelor's Degree in Music Education. He is the director of the Clovis High School Symphony Band, Basketball Pep Band, Rodeo Band, and Marching Band. He is in his seventh year as Director of Band at Clovis, preceded by one year at Marshall Junior High and four years as assistant director at Clovis High School . He has taught elementary band at Barry, Zia, Lockwood, Bella Vista, La Casita, Lincoln-Jackson, Ranchvale, and James Bickley. He is a member of NMMEA, MENC, and Phi Beta Mu International Bandmasters' Fraternity. He is married to Robbie Allred and they have two children.
Mr. Karl Powell is a graduate of Eastern New Mexico University with a Bachelor's Degree in Music Education. His performing experience includes both concert and jazz saxophone. He is currently in his second year at Clovis High School , preceded by four years at Gattis Junior High, Cameo Elementary, and Sandia Elementary. His is amember of SENMMEA and MENC.
Mr. Brandon Boerio is in his first year of teaching in Clovis. He is currently directing the Concert Band, is the Instructor of Percussion for CHS, teaches the Parkview and Cameo beginning bands, as well as the percussion for both the Yucca and Marshall Varsity Bands. Prior to teaching in Clovis, Mr. Boerio taught four years in Portales, serving two years as the Jr. High director and two years as the High School director. Mr. Boerio is a graduate of Eastern New Mexico University with a Bachelor's Degree in Music Education. He has played professionally for the last seven years and continues to play with the Southwest Symphony, the Roswell Symphony Orchestra, and the ENMU Steel Drum Combo.
Mr. Ty Frederick is in his first year teaching at Clovis. He currently teaches low brass sectionals for both the Symphony and Concert Bands, teaches the Zia and James Bickley beginning bands as well as working at both the CHS Freshman Campus and with the Yucca Varsity Band. Before moving to Clovis, Mr. Frederick worked with the Las Cruces Symphony, the Denver Brass, as well as helped to found the NMSU Summer Band Camp in Las Cruces. Mr. Frederick is a graduate of New Mexico State University with a Masters Degree in Music Education and a Bachelors Degree in Music Business.
Mr. Brian Wargel is a graduate of Indiana University with a Bachelor's Degree in Music Education. Mr. Wargel is the director of the Clovis Ninth Grade Center Music Program. Before coming to Clovis , Mr. Wargel was the Head Band Director at Kirby Middle School in Memphis , Tennessee . He played for one year with Star of Indiana "Brass Theater" and one year with the Memphis-based big band "Mercedes Knights." Mr. Wargel is a member of NMMEA, MENC, ITA, and Kappa Kappa Psi.
Mission Statement - The Clovis Municipal Schools Band Directors will provide an environment in which young people can develop strong character, become excellent students and grow into wonderful musicians who have a life-long love for music.
